Illinois School Law Survey is compiled and written by Attorney Brian A. Braun and published in alternating years
by the Illinois Association of School Boards. The Survey is a popular layman's guide to school law that uses a
question-and-answer format to address issues commonly encountered by school board members and administrators. Answers
are based on state and federal statutes, court decisions and government agency regulations.
Illinois School Law Survey presents more than 1,300 questions and answers in 27 chapters on such topics as student
discipline, the educational program, education of the handicapped, teacher employment, collective bargaining, school
elections, public meetings, budgeting, property taxes and state aid. All information is fully documented as to
where the law may be found, and an explanation of legal references tells the reader how to locate statutes and
court rulings for more information. The reference work also carries an extensive "quick reference index,"
to help the user quickly locate topics of interest.
The Seventh Edition also comes packaged with a CD ROM that carries the entire text in a searchable database plus
the tull text of nearly all statutes, court decisions and administrative rules cited in the book. The CD is truly
an "all-in-one" legal reference that comes with a license to install the Law Survey and search engine
on one personal computer. (Additional licenses are available to accommodate multiple workstations connected to
a Local Area Network.) Also included: an on-line users manual and technical support from Lexis Law Publishing.
The CD carries both PC and Apple Macintosh versions of the Law Survey.
