book was written for people who want to make the best, most scientific
hiring decisions within the structure of an interview. The people we
have in mind come from many backgrounds. Some are new graduates of MBA
programs, and others are seasoned alumni of the school of hard knocks.
Some are engineers, scientists, and lawyers; others have backgrounds in
logging, mining, and farming, construction or sales. These people have
one thing in common. They will have to make decisions about whom to
employ from a selection of applicants on the basis of a conversation we
call the "selection interview". This book should be required reading
