This volume of selections from Burke's work, along with an introductory essay by Joseph R. Gusfield, considers the relation of his ideas to sociological thought and practice. Includes a description of Burke's influence on sociologists and considers the potential of his work for future sociological study. Difficulties with Burkean ideas as guides are analyzed.
